Hi, I’m Richard and I bring a wealth of catering experience to our service, having spent many years in advertising and marketing, corporate hospitality and event management. And, from 2006 as a hotelier and restaurateur, owning The Well House, the international award winning luxury hotel in Cornwall, complete with one of only five 3AA Rosette fine dining restaurants in the County – in company with Rick Stein. It even had its own Master Chef of Great Britain! The Hotel soon became a favourite country house wedding venue offering full wedding packages including civil ceremonies and receptions – many in marquees and usually with traditional hog roasts . Our ‘Event Catering Service’ provided top quality cuisine to both marquees in the Hotel grounds and then to a wider dining audience at outside events at other venues in the South West. We knew that top quality food and top quality service ensure a well-organised event that guests would always remember. We also knew it would work just as well in the Midlands – and it has! Since then we have become one of the leading meat roasting companies in the Midlands. In 2019 we formed Heart of England Catering, staffed by chefs and catering professionals and which now offers a full catering service for weddings, special occasions and corporate events.

Hi, I’m James, our Head Chef. I began my cooking career in Cornwall working in The Well House Hotel’s restaurant. I worked under our own Master Chef of Great Britain, learning professional skills and triggering my enthusiasm for cooking.I later accepted the post of Head Chef at The Barbican in Looe where I ran the busy kitchen there at the age of 22. Moving back to the Midlands, I honed my cooking skills in a number of gastro pubs and restaurants in Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, before joining several catering agencies working around the Midlands. I quickly learned about being thrown in at the deep end, to a kitchen sometimes in crisis. I’m now a partner in our original hog roast business, which has now expanded into a busy and successful wedding and event catering company. Whilst our business was growing, I was one of four senior teaching chefs at the prestigious Manor School of Fine Cuisine, founded by acclaimed chef, food consultant and TV and Radio presenter, Claire Tuttey CB Dip. CGC.,CCC and MCFA. This led to my position as a Chef Trainer for HIT Training, providing coaching for young chefs to enable them to achieve their NVQ’s in professional cookery. I’m also a co-director in Heart of England Catering Limited.
